Founded in 2004, TNETS Global started out as provider of customs processing personnel to a single client in Singapore which is now part of DHL, and who remain a client of ours to this day.
Our initial goal was to establish the service category of outsourced independent customs provider and then expand into the adjacent space using a mix of people, process and technology.
Expansion with global forwarders
As we expanded within the industry to serve more and more global forwarding clients such as Kuehne and Nagel, DSV, Nippon Express, Geodis, Yusen and CEVA, it became apparent that the customs processing applications available to us were not suited to the high volume / high compliance / high efficiency service we promised to clients. We therefore we embarked on our first software development challenge, resulting in a highly efficient WCO-compliant application, TNETS v4.1 / Borderease.
Pivot into Single Broker Model
Having our own in-house developed internationally recognised customs declaration platform allowed us to expand further and faster, and before long we were supporting corporate clients directly as they sought to consolidate their trade compliance activity with a single customs broker under our Single Broker Model, and this continues to be the main thrust of our activity to this day.
Through this service category we have streamlined the customs operations of some of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors in industries as diverse as retail, semiconductor, chemicals and medical devices.
Technology portfolio expanded
As we expanded support to major corporate clients, we identified the requirement to build more comprehensive customs applications. We developed Trade Intelligence System (TIS) to allow us to take in a feed of trade documents, extract the critical data and then store the resulting customs permit with the input documents, and Customs 360 which is a powerful customs business intelligence tool.
Integration with ERP systems
More recently we have expanded our scope to provide broader support for global trade with our Trade Documentation Management Service with its complementary application, TradeHelix. Using TradeHelix we plug a vital gap which exists outside of ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle, allowing us to manage and report on the fine granularity of cross-border trade transactions, working with clients, forwarders, carriers and banks.
Geographic expansion
Our clients are now draw from countries all over the world. In terms of geographic expansion, we now support clients directly in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom directly, with plans to expand further, both directly and through our partner network.
